The government is fully committed to supporting the manufacturing sector pertaining to nonconventional wind energy as India is developing into a hub in the energy sector.

Shri Pralhad Joshi, the Minister for New and Renewable Energy, in his inaugural address at the Windergy 2026 conference in Chennai, said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has been witnessing the rapid growth in the manufacturing sector. He also stated that the exports have risen to 43.8 billion dollars and the country has recorded 8 percent growth in the economy.


Mr. Pralhad stated that it is an achievement for India to have produced 271 gigawatts of energy till May this year. He also stated that the target is to produce 1000 gigawatts by 2030. He made sure that the country has the capacity to produce more than 1120 gigawatts in the near future.

He also states that in the energy sector, India is developing into a manufacturing hub. India’s flagship trade fair and conference, being held in Windergy India 2026 in Chennai. In the last financial year the sector added a record of 6.05 GW of wind capacity; this year till August it has produced 58.52 GW.


The event unites an impressive assembly of 400 delegates and 350 exhibitors hailing from 20 nations, featuring prominent industry players like Suzlon India, Venwind, Renfra, Adani Wind, and Leap Green, alongside dedicated country pavilions representing Germany, Denmark, and Spain.

India is now recognized as the fourth-largest player in the global wind power arena. Currently, over 30 GW of wind energy projects are in the pipeline. Gujarat leads the charge as the foremost state in wind energy generation, closely followed by Tamil Nadu, with Karnataka securing the third position in this dynamic sector.
