NTPC Renewable Energy

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPCREL), a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), has invited bids for the development of a 300 MW grid-connected solar power project near Nokhra in Rajasthan. The move marks another significant step in the company’s renewable energy expansion plans in the state, where it is already developing large-scale solar projects.

According to the tender document, the project will be executed on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis, with bid submissions scheduled to close on June 22, 2026.

Expansion Plans Following Nokh Solar Project

The new tender comes nearly a year after NTPC commissioned the 245 MW Nokh Solar Project in Rajasthan in June 2025. The company has been steadily expanding its renewable energy footprint in the state as part of its broader clean energy growth strategy.

Earlier, NGEL Chief Executive Officer Sarit Maheshwari had indicated plans to further scale the company’s 1.5 GW solar development programme in Rajasthan. He noted that the required land has already been secured and implementation support agreements for project execution are in place.

Maheshwari had also stated that discussions regarding commercial power offtake arrangements with the Rajasthan government were progressing, and the company was prepared to move ahead once the agreements are finalised.

Comprehensive EPC Scope of Work

The selected contractor will be responsible for the complete design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the solar photovoltaic project.

The scope of work includes the supply of solar modules, construction of foundations, installation of tracker-based module mounting structures, fixing of photovoltaic panels and associated module interconnections.

The contractor will also be required to arrange temporary power and water supply for construction activities and develop supporting infrastructure needed for project execution.

Focus on Modern Solar Infrastructure

The project includes the construction of pre-engineered inverter rooms, power conditioning units, low-tension and high-tension switchgear systems, as well as dedicated HT switchgear rooms wherever required.

In addition, the selected bidder will undertake the supply, laying and termination of HT cables connecting the solar generation blocks to the owner’s main pooling station.

The project will also feature a module cleaning system and associated equipment aimed at ensuring optimal performance and efficiency of the solar installation.

Supporting Infrastructure Included

Beyond the generation infrastructure, the project scope covers the construction of internal roads, pathways, drainage systems, temporary and internal fencing, security facilities and other essential site development works.

These facilities are expected to support efficient project operations and long-term maintenance of the solar plant.

Boost to Rajasthan’s Renewable Energy Capacity

The proposed 300 MW solar project further strengthens Rajasthan’s position as one of India’s leading renewable energy hubs. With abundant solar resources and growing investment in clean energy infrastructure, the state continues to attract large-scale solar developments from both public and private sector companies.

The latest tender reflects NTPC Renewable Energy’s commitment to expanding renewable power generation capacity and supporting India’s transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
