BRE Summit 2026

The second day of the Bharat Renewable Energy (BRE) Summit and Expo 2026 represented a significant turning point in the global fight against climate change, showcasing India’s emerging role as a key player in the clean energy sector, encompassing capital investment, manufacturing, and technological advancements.

Uniting representatives from over 130 nations, including more than 40 energy ministers, the summit facilitated critical policy dialogues and substantial investment pledges spearheaded by various Indian states.

Exploring “The Future of Terawatt Energy”

A standout moment of the day was the “Future of Terawatt Energy” ministerial plenary, a prestigious strategic gathering organised collaboratively by the International Solar Alliance (ISA), the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), and Energiva Ventures.

Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar, and Minister of State Shripad Yesso Naik came together with global leaders to delineate the framework for sustainable long-term decarbonisation.

The plenary focused intently on four essential foundations:

  • Strategic Energy Coordination: Merging grid development with robust battery and pumped-hydro storage systems.
  • Strong Infrastructure: Enhancing power transmission systems to accommodate high-capacity renewable energy sources.
  • Large-Scale Investment: Attracting global public and private funding for extensive projects.
  • Smart Technology Integration: Leveraging advanced grids and AI for dependable, cost-effective energy distribution.

The conversations outlined a clear path leading to 2050, bolstering India’s ambitious goal of realising Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.

States Step Up: Odisha and Goa Attract Major Investments

The summit served as a dynamic platform for regional growth. Odisha shone brightly, securing 18 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) amounting to an impressive ₹1.17 lakh crore (around $14 billion) in proposed investments. The agreements were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, focusing on green hydrogen, solar parks, and supply-chain manufacturing.

In a further strategic achievement, Bondada Engineering Ltd. entered into a partnership with the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board (Goa-IPB), committing ₹3,000 crore to renewable energy infrastructure and generation initiatives throughout Goa.

Global Collaboration and Cutting-Edge Solutions

A total of thirteen Indian states and union territories proudly presented their project initiatives, while nine key international partners—including Australia, Denmark, the European Union, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the UK—participated in constructive discussions aimed at enhancing technology transfers and promoting cross-border investments in clean energy.

In tandem, the summit unveiled Watts Next: Innovators’ Ideas for India’s Energy Security, an exclusive forum developed in collaboration with BloombergNEF. Visionary leaders such as Sumant Sinha (ReNew), Shreya Mishra (SolarSquare), Girish R. Tanti (Suzlon Group), and Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala (IIT Madras) shared transformative ideas on policy, financing, and the essential domestic technology framework required to achieve India’s energy autonomy over the next 25 years.
