ReNew

ReNew, a pioneering company in decarbonisation solutions, has successfully obtained a substantial financing package of $100 million from the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank FMO. This investment represents the largest single commitment by the European lender in India’s energy sector thus far.

The 10-year debt facility has been granted to ReNew Solar Power Private Limited through the Voluntary Retention Route (VRR), as detailed in a company announcement released on Tuesday. The funds, denominated in rupees, will be directly allocated to support renewable energy projects that are currently underway within the ReNew Group.

This groundbreaking deal not only marks a historic investment milestone for FMO in India’s energy sector but also stands as the largest 2X-aligned corporate financing the Dutch institution has made in Asia. It falls under the 2X Challenge, a worldwide initiative aimed at enhancing women’s economic involvement and empowerment through strategic investments.

The 10-year duration of this financing aligns perfectly with the long operational life of clean energy assets, enabling the company to secure reliable, long-term funding while broadening its financial sources across both international and domestic credit markets.

Kailash Vaswani, Chief Financial Officer at ReNew, said, “This financing is a strong endorsement of ReNew’s scale, execution capabilities and long-term growth strategy and reflects the confidence of leading global institutions in India’s clean energy opportunity.”

“The 10-year facility gives us access to stable, long-term capital at a critical stage of our portfolio build-out, while further diversifying our funding sources across international and domestic markets,” Vaswani said.

“As FMO’s largest investment in India’s energy sector, this transaction demonstrates our commitment to supporting India’s energy transition through impactful, large-scale financing solutions,” said Marnix Monsfort, Director & Head of Energy at FMO.

The Nasdaq-listed renewable energy company announced an impressive clean energy portfolio totalling 20.5 GW as of August 18, 2026, featuring 1.7 GW (6.2 GWh) dedicated to battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Beyond electricity generation and storage, the company holds manufacturing capacities of 6.4 GW in solar modules and 2.5 GW in solar cells, with another 4 GW of solar cell manufacturing currently under expansion and slated to become operational by December 2026.
