Serentica Renewables has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 600 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project, marking a significant step in India’s transition towards reliable clean energy. The project will supply renewable power during peak demand hours, helping strengthen the country’s energy security while supporting its decarbonisation goals.
The agreement follows Serentica Renewables’ successful bid in SECI’s FDRE VII Assured Peak tender, where the company secured the largest allocation among all participating developers.

Largest Share in SECI’s FDRE VII Tender
Under the agreement, Serentica Renewables will develop a 600 MW (2,400 MWh) renewable energy project as part of SECI‘s FDRE VII Assured Peak programme. The project is part of a total tendered capacity of 4,800 MWh, making it one of India’s largest renewable energy procurement initiatives designed to deliver reliable power during peak demand periods.

With the signing of the PPA, the project now moves into the implementation phase.
Focus on Reliable Renewable Power
Unlike conventional solar projects that mainly generate electricity during daylight hours, the FDRE framework requires developers to ensure a dependable supply of renewable energy during non-solar or peak demand hours.
This model combines different renewable energy sources and advanced technologies to provide a stable power supply, addressing one of the key challenges in renewable energy integration.
Supporting India’s Clean Energy Goals
According to the company, the project is expected to generate nearly 975 million units of clean electricity every year, while helping avoid more than one million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
The initiative is expected to contribute to India’s broader objective of increasing the share of renewable energy in its power mix while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Renewable Portfolio Crosses 8.7 GW
Following this agreement, Serentica Renewables’ utility-scale renewable energy portfolio has expanded to over 8.7 GWp, further strengthening its position in India’s fast-growing clean energy sector.
