ACME Solar SECI

ACME Solar has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 300MW renewable energy project integrated with 1,200MWh battery energy storage capacity. The agreement marks another major step in India’s push toward reliable round-the-clock clean energy and large-scale energy storage deployment.

The agreement has been signed through ACME Renewtech Sixth Private Limited, a subsidiary of ACME Solar, under SECI’s Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) Tranche-VII programme.

25-Year Agreement for Assured Peak Power Supply

Under the 25-year agreement, ACME Solar will supply assured peak renewable power during non-solar hours through interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected infrastructure.

The project combines:

  • 300MW renewable energy capacity
  • 1,200MWh battery energy storage system (BESS)
  • Four hours of dispatchable peak power supply

Officials said the project will utilise ACME Solar’s existing night-time grid connectivity at high solar irradiation locations to optimise operational efficiency and grid reliability.

Project to Support Reliable Renewable Energy Delivery

The company stated that the project will be required to maintain a minimum annual availability of 85%, ensuring reliable clean power delivery during peak demand hours.

The capacity was awarded to ACME Solar under tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) guidelines following an e-reverse auction conducted in February 2026. The company had received the Letter of Award (LoA) for the project earlier this year.

ACME Solar Expands PPA-Backed Renewable Portfolio

With the signing of the latest agreement, ACME Solar’s total PPA-backed portfolio has increased to 6.57GW out of its overall contracted renewable energy capacity of 8.07GW.

The company currently operates:

  • 2.99GW operational renewable capacity
  • 5.08GW under-construction capacity
  • Nearly 18GWh battery energy storage installations under development

Its portfolio includes solar, wind, hybrid renewable energy, FDRE and energy storage projects across India.

Growing Focus on Energy Storage and Hybrid Projects

The latest project further strengthens ACME Solar’s presence in India’s rapidly growing renewable energy and battery storage market.

Last year, the company’s subsidiary ACME Platinum Urja Pvt Ltd had also signed a 25-year PPA with SECI for a 200MW solar project integrated with a 100MW/400MWh battery energy storage system.

Industry experts believe such projects will play a critical role in improving grid stability, managing renewable intermittency and supporting India’s transition toward clean and dispatchable power systems.

Expansion Plans Continue Across Renewable Energy Sector

Earlier this year, Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL) awarded ACME Solar a project for developing 220MW solar-plus-storage capacity in Morena, Madhya Pradesh.

Construction for the project is expected to begin in 2026, with commercial operations likely between 2027 and 2028.

With increasing investments in battery storage and hybrid renewable projects, ACME Solar continues to expand its role in India’s clean energy transition and future-ready power infrastructure.
