Avaada Group Signs MoU

In a significant boost to Maharashtra’s green energy ambitions, Avaada Group on Tuesday announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra, for the development of two large-scale pumped storage hydro projects with a combined capacity of 3,650 MW.

As per the official release, the two projects – the 2,400 MW Pawana Falyan and the 1,200 MW Sirsala – will involve an investment of ₹15,100 crore and are projected to create over 3,800 direct employment opportunities across the state.

The Government of Maharashtra reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating green energy infrastructure, stating that all MoUs must swiftly translate into on-ground execution. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasised that the state is committed to extending full support to developers in fast-tracking these transformative projects as part of its vision to establish Maharashtra as the Green Energy Hub of India.

The release further highlighted that these pumped storage projects are essential for ensuring energy security, enabling round-the-clock renewable power supply, maintaining grid stability, and facilitating the seamless integration of clean energy into the state’s power ecosystem.

Vineet Mittal, Chairman of Avaada Group, remarked that the partnership marks a decisive move towards securing India’s clean energy future. He noted that pumped storage systems are vital for grid reliability and for delivering uninterrupted renewable power across the country.
