The Telangana government is developing a 50-year roadmap for sustainable power generation, with an ambitious goal of producing 20,000 MW of green energy by 2029-30, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced at a meeting in Achampet, around 150 km from Hyderabad.
He highlighted that despite record electricity demand touching 17,162 MW this summer, the state ensured uninterrupted power supply without a single minute of disruption—a testament to the administration’s commitment to reliable infrastructure.
Vikramarka underscored future infrastructure and development plans, including the Regional Ring Road, Musi River rejuvenation, and district-level manufacturing hubs, which will further raise energy requirements in the coming years.
Criticising the previous BRS administration, he said former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao left behind ₹10,000 crore in pending dues to government employees. Of this, ₹8,000 crore has already been cleared by the Congress government, with the remaining amount to be paid in phases.
He also asserted that several schemes launched under the current government have become national benchmarks, especially the successful completion of the caste census, which has drawn attention from other states seeking to emulate Telangana’s model.
