Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil) has achieved two significant milestones in its petrochemical business, earning global recognition for manufacturing excellence and sustainable operations. The company’s High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Unit at the Panipat Naphtha Cracker has secured the top position in the Hostalen Global Benchmarking Survey 2025, while the Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) Unit at Gujarat Refinery has become the first refinery and petrochemical plant in India to receive the CII GreenCo Silver Certification.

The achievements underscore IndianOil’s continued focus on delivering high-quality products, improving operational efficiency, and adopting environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.

Panipat HDPE Unit Ranked No. 1 Globally

IndianOil’s HDPE Unit at the Panipat Naphtha Cracker has been ranked first in the Hostalen Global Benchmarking Survey 2025, conducted by LyondellBasell, the global technology provider for Hostalen HDPE plants.

The Panipat facility earned a perfect score in both Prime Grade Product Quality and Reliability, reflecting outstanding performance in manufacturing, product consistency, and operational excellence.

This is the second consecutive year that the unit has secured the top global ranking, highlighting its ability to consistently meet international quality standards.

HDPE is widely used in the manufacturing of pipes, packaging materials, containers, industrial products, and several other applications due to its strength and durability.

Gujarat Refinery Receives GreenCo Silver Certification

In another major achievement, IndianOil’s LAB Unit at Gujarat Refinery has become the first refinery and petrochemical plant in India to receive the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) GreenCo Silver Certification.

The certification recognises excellence in sustainable manufacturing and evaluates organisations on parameters such as energy efficiency, resource conservation, environmental management, waste reduction, and adoption of green technologies.

Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB), produced at the refinery, is a key raw material used in the manufacture of detergents and cleaning products. The certification further strengthens the environmental credentials of IndianOil’s petrochemical operations.

The recognitions were presented to Arvind Kumar, Director (Refineries), IndianOil, by Subhajit Sarkar, Executive Director (Operations), along with members of the Refineries Headquarters – Technical (Petrochemicals) team.

Congratulating the teams at Panipat and Gujarat Refinery, Arvind Kumar praised their dedication to maintaining high manufacturing standards and promoting sustainable industrial practices. He encouraged them to continue setting new benchmarks in quality, reliability, and environmental responsibility.
