NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Rajasthan for the development of up to 25 GW of renewable energy projects in the state.

Under the agreement, NGEL will collaborate with the Rajasthan government to identify suitable land parcels, establish large-scale solar and wind power parks, and integrate energy storage and green hydrogen technologies. The partnership aims to strengthen Rajasthan’s renewable energy infrastructure by ensuring efficient project implementation, regulatory clearances, and supporting transmission facilities.

The initiative aligns with NTPC’s broader strategy to significantly expand its renewable energy portfolio and contribute to India’s national goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030. The projects will also help diversify the state’s energy mix and promote sustainable industrial growth.

Officials from the Rajasthan government stated that the collaboration will help boost clean-energy generation, create employment opportunities, and attract further investments into the state’s green economy. NGEL plans to leverage Rajasthan’s strong solar and wind potential to deliver projects that combine generation, storage, and grid-stability solutions.

This MoU represents one of the largest renewable energy commitments by a central public sector undertaking in a single state, reinforcing India’s ongoing push towards energy transition and carbon neutrality.
