New Delhi: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has appointed Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem as Director (Production), effective September 21, 2026. The appointment follows approval by the company’s board based on a communication from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Nettem will remain in the position until September 30, 2029, when he is due to retire, unless the appointment is ended earlier through further orders.

A mechanical engineer by qualification, Nettem has spent more than three decades with ONGC, working across oil and gas production, field operations, project execution and business development.

Career Profile

Nettem joined ONGC in 1991 and began his career at the Mumbai High offshore asset. His subsequent assignments included work on feasibility studies for refinery projects at Kakinada and Barmer.

He was associated with the joint venture that brought the Mangala oilfield in Rajasthan into production and was involved in the commissioning of the heated crude oil pipeline connecting Barmer with Bhogat.

During his tenure with ONGC Videsh, Nettem worked on deepwater operations, field development planning and business development activities. He later took charge of the company’s Assam Asset at Nazira, where his responsibilities included production from mature fields and operations in an environmentally sensitive area.

At Mumbai High, he handled areas including production performance, asset integrity, redevelopment projects, project execution and health, safety and environmental functions.

Nettem is also Chairman of Indradhanush Gas Grid Ltd, a joint venture of five public sector companies established to develop the natural gas pipeline network in the northeastern region.
