Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth ₹8,260 crore in Uttarakhand as the state celebrated its 25th foundation day. The projects span multiple sectors, including drinking water, irrigation, power, solar energy, urban development, education, and sports infrastructure, marking a major step toward accelerating Uttarakhand’s growth and modernisation.

During his address in Dehradun, the Prime Minister commended Uttarakhand’s progress over the past 25 years, highlighting the state’s achievements in infrastructure development, energy generation, and connectivity. He noted that since its formation, Uttarakhand has witnessed a fourfold increase in power generation capacity and significant expansion of its road network, underscoring the government’s continued focus on improving basic infrastructure and essential public services.

Modi urged the state to draft a long-term development roadmap leading up to 2047, aligning with India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by the time it marks 100 years of independence. He emphasised the need to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability and to leverage Uttarakhand’s natural and cultural assets to promote sectors like eco-tourism, adventure tourism, and spiritual wellness.

State officials said these initiatives will help position Uttarakhand as a model hill state, combining infrastructure advancement with environmental preservation. The projects are also expected to boost the state’s role in India’s clean energy transition and tourism-driven economy, supporting both livelihood creation and long-term regional sustainability.
