In a significant development in India’s renewable energy landscape, CleanMax and Toyota Tsusho India Private Limited (TTIPL) have entered into a long-term strategic partnership aimed at accelerating clean energy adoption among corporates. The alliance seeks to jointly develop and operate 300 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy projects across the country by March 2028.
TTIPL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Japan, and part of the globally renowned Toyota Group, brings its legacy of innovation and commitment to sustainability into the Indian market. CleanMax, backed by Brookfield, is one of India’s leading providers of renewable energy solutions for corporates, known for its robust execution capabilities and diversified green energy portfolio.
The newly established joint entity will function as a comprehensive clean energy platform offering tailored green power solutions to corporates, particularly Japanese businesses operating in India. These solutions will span rooftop solar systems, stand-alone ground-mounted solar and wind projects, wind-solar hybrid models, and carbon credit services. The focus is on enabling long-term Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs) that ensure stability, cost-efficiency, and environmental compliance for clients.
Commenting on the partnership, Kuldeep Jain, Founder and Managing Director of CleanMax, stated, “The partnership with Toyota Tsusho is a prestigious landmark for us. We’re delighted to support their journey in India, with an aim to enable Japanese corporates, including the Toyota Group, to reach their net-zero goals. This solidifies CleanMax’s strategy around global collaborations focused on helping corporations reduce their carbon footprint, while enabling the company to achieve its growth targets in a more capital-efficient manner.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Nobuaki Yahiro, Managing Director of TTIPL, remarked, “This initiative is a strategic step to enable decarbonization for our group and partners in India towards a carbon-neutral future. The partnership with CleanMax aims to facilitate the availability of reliable, long-term renewable power to customers, and our shared vision for sustainability will help accelerate India’s shift to renewable energy.”
The collaboration is strategically aligned with India’s broader commitment to transition towards a sustainable energy future and supports the national objective of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030. CleanMax brings to the table its proven track record in deploying and managing large-scale renewable energy projects across multiple states and industries, while TTIPL’s established network among Japanese corporations in India presents a strong pipeline of potential clients.
This initiative also highlights the increasing trend of cross-border sustainability partnerships, where global corporations are aligning with local renewable energy providers to meet their ESG goals and statutory climate mandates.
As the demand for sustainable power solutions continues to grow in India’s industrial sector, this joint venture is expected to not only boost renewable capacity but also reinforce corporate commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation-driven growth.
