New Delhi: The Delhi government has launched a dedicated portal under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to provide rooftop solar installations of up to 3 kW to 2.25 lakh households.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the portal on Monday, with the government set to bear the full cost of installing the rooftop solar systems. Registrations and allotments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Under the initiative, eligible residents can register online through the dedicated portal to avail themselves of the rooftop solar installation without bearing the installation cost.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the initiative would support the expansion of green energy in Delhi. She also said the government would provide the solar installations at zero cost to consumers covered under the programme.

The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, launched by the Central government in February 2024, aims to support rooftop solar adoption and provide free electricity of up to 300 units per month to eligible households.
