Ashok Ramachandran

Suzlon Group has appointed seasoned business leader Ashok Ramachandran as President, India Business, and Senior Managerial Personnel, effective June 4, 2026. The appointment comes at a crucial stage in Suzlon’s growth journey as the company strengthens its position as a leading renewable energy player and accelerates its transition into a wind-first, full-stack clean energy company.

Ashok Ramachandran will report directly to Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, and will be responsible for driving the company’s India business operations and growth strategy.

Experienced Leader with Strong Global Background

With over two decades of leadership experience, Ashok Ramachandran brings extensive expertise across the energy, industrial products, and vertical mobility sectors. His professional journey spans key markets including India, Southeast Asia, and Australia, where he has successfully led large-scale business transformations and growth initiatives.

Industry observers view his appointment as a strategic move by Suzlon as India’s renewable energy sector enters a period of rapid expansion and increasing demand for clean power solutions.

Key Role in JSW’s Expansion Journey

Before joining Suzlon, Ashok Ramachandran served as Chief Operating Officer and Board Member at JSW. During his tenure, he played a significant role in shaping the company’s long-term growth strategy and supporting its rapid capacity expansion.

Under the leadership team he was part of, JSW expanded its power generation capacity from nearly 5 GW to around 30 GW within a span of approximately three years, reflecting one of the fastest growth trajectories in the sector.

Successful Leadership at Schindler India

Prior to his stint at JSW, Ramachandran spent a substantial part of his career with the Schindler Group. As CEO and President of Schindler India & South Asia, he led one of the company’s most strategic markets, overseeing manufacturing, operations, research and development, and business expansion.

During his leadership, Schindler India recorded significant growth, with revenues increasing from nearly ₹1,000 crore to ₹3,000 crore, while strengthening its operational capabilities and market presence across the region.

Suzlon Bets on Strong Execution and Scalable Growth

Welcoming the appointment, Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, said Ashok Ramachandran’s proven track record in operational excellence, execution-driven transformation, and scaling high-growth businesses would play an important role in Suzlon’s next phase of expansion.

Tanti noted that India’s wind energy sector is witnessing unprecedented momentum. Following record wind installations of 6.5 GW last year, the industry is expected to scale further, with annual installations potentially reaching 13–15 GW in the coming years.

He emphasized that the ability to execute projects efficiently and scale operations effectively will be critical as the sector enters a new growth cycle.

Focus on Strengthening Market Leadership

Suzlon CEO Ajay Kapur expressed confidence that Ramachandran’s leadership will help elevate the company’s performance and strengthen its position in the renewable energy industry.

According to Kapur, Suzlon remains focused on raising industry benchmarks through innovation, operational excellence, and customer-centric solutions, and Ramachandran’s experience will contribute significantly to achieving these objectives.

Committed to India’s Renewable Energy Future

Speaking on his appointment, Ashok Ramachandran said India is entering a transformative phase of wind energy development, creating significant opportunities for companies operating in the renewable sector.

He stated that his focus would be on strengthening Suzlon’s market leadership through sharper execution, operational excellence, deeper customer engagement, and scalable growth strategies.

Suzlon Positioned for the Next Growth Cycle

The appointment of Ashok Ramachandran comes as India accelerates its clean energy transition and expands renewable energy capacity to meet its long-term sustainability goals.

With a strong leadership team, a growing project pipeline, and increasing opportunities in the wind energy sector, Suzlon is positioning itself to play a key role in supporting India’s renewable energy ambitions while driving sustainable growth in the years ahead.
