SAEL Industries Ltd on Wednesday announced the commissioning of a 298 MW (DC) solar power project in Rajasthan’s Jalore district, ahead of its scheduled commercial operation date.
The project, spread across 1,000 acres, was commissioned on August 17, 2025, through its subsidiary Sunfree Energy RJP1 Pvt Ltd. The company had signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Ltd (RUVITL) in February 2024 at a tariff of ₹2.61 per unit.
“This project holds importance for us because it is the largest solar power project developed by SAEL that is connected to a State Transmission Utility,” said SAEL Director Laxit Awla.
According to the company, more than 80 per cent of the solar modules installed were sourced from its Kishangarh manufacturing facility in Rajasthan. The project uses advanced TOPCon solar PV modules with peak outputs of up to 635 WP and efficiency of 22.95 per cent.
With this development, SAEL’s solar IPP portfolio has expanded to 7.7 GW (DC). The company also has 3.5 GW of TOPCon module assembly capacity and 165 MW of agri waste-to-energy projects. Additionally, it is setting up an integrated 5 GW solar cell and 5 GW module manufacturing facility in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
