Larsen & Toubro’s offshore hydrocarbon arm, L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Offshore (LTEH Offshore), has secured a ₹5,000–10,000 crore ‘Major’ order from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for offshore projects along India’s west coast. The award comes as ONGC continues to strengthen and modernise its offshore production infrastructure.
The order comprises two key developments. The first is the Pipeline Replacement Project (PRP-X), which involves engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of multiple subsea pipeline segments, along with associated modification works across ONGC’s offshore fields.

The second component is the Well Head Platforms Project, under which LTEH Offshore will undertake the complete EPCIC scope for four wellhead platforms off India’s west coast. Together, the projects are aimed at supporting the reliability, continuity and efficiency of ONGC’s offshore hydrocarbon operations.
The award is significant not only for L&T but also for India’s domestic offshore energy ecosystem. Subsea pipelines form a critical link between offshore production facilities and onshore processing infrastructure, while wellhead platforms enable the development and production of hydrocarbon reserves from offshore fields. Modernising these assets can help sustain production from existing fields and improve the resilience of India’s upstream infrastructure.

For L&T, the order reinforces its position in the increasingly active offshore engineering and construction market. LTEH Offshore has capabilities spanning fixed platforms, subsea pipelines, brownfield modifications and decommissioning, supported by in-house engineering, fabrication facilities and marine assets.
The latest contract also comes against a backdrop of renewed offshore investment in India. L&T’s FY2025-26 annual report notes that ONGC’s offshore tendering activity has accelerated, with recent awards, new tender issuances and changes in contracting strategies supporting the project pipeline.
With India’s energy demand continuing to grow, the development of domestic hydrocarbon infrastructure remains an important component of the country’s broader energy-security strategy. The ONGC-L&T order therefore signals continued capital deployment in offshore assets even as India simultaneously expands investments across renewables, storage and other clean-energy technologies.
LTEH Offshore Senior Vice President and Head Parthasarathi Chatterjee said the orders reaffirm the company’s position as a trusted partner in India’s offshore energy infrastructure and reflect customer confidence in its integrated EPCIC capabilities, project-execution experience and focus on safety and operational excellence.
