Renewable energy major Suzlon has announced an ambitious transformation strategy aimed at evolving from a wind turbine manufacturer into a full-stack renewable energy solutions company, with plans to manage 70 GW of renewable assets and achieve 10 GW of annual renewable energy sales by FY31.
Under its newly unveiled roadmap, branded as “Suzlon 2.0”, the company is expanding beyond its traditional wind energy business into solar power, battery energy storage systems (BESS), renewable energy development, project execution, and asset management services.
The strategy is designed to position Suzlon as an integrated renewable energy platform capable of delivering end-to-end clean energy solutions across the value chain.
Suzlon Expands Beyond Wind Energy
While wind power will continue to remain the company’s primary growth engine, Suzlon is broadening its portfolio to include:
- Solar energy solutions
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Renewable Energy Development (RE DevCo)
- Renewable Energy Project Execution
- Renewable Energy Asset Management
- Energy Management Services
The company said the new business architecture is aimed at providing customers with a single accountable partner for planning, developing, executing, and managing renewable energy projects.
Officials noted that the model addresses one of the sector’s key challenges—fragmented project execution and procurement—by offering integrated solutions under one platform.
Target of 70 GW Assets Under Management
A major pillar of Suzlon’s growth strategy is the expansion of its renewable energy asset management business.
The company plans to increase its assets under management (AUM) fourfold to 70 GW by FY31, creating a large annuity-based revenue stream.
The expanded asset management portfolio will cover:
- Wind projects
- Solar assets
- Hybrid renewable projects
- Multi-brand renewable energy portfolios
Suzlon intends to leverage its nationwide service network and digital monitoring capabilities to improve operational efficiency, maximise energy generation, and enhance long-term asset performance.
Annual Renewable Energy Sales to Reach 10 GW
As part of its long-term growth roadmap, Suzlon aims to scale annual renewable energy sales to 10 GW by FY31, nearly four times current levels.
The company also plans to:
- Expand its order book to 15 GW
- Maintain approximately 40% market share in India’s wind energy sector
- Secure 3 GW of export order intake
- Increase the contribution of higher-value businesses across its portfolio
According to Suzlon, renewable energy development projects are expected to contribute nearly 60% of total business volumes in the coming years.
New Wind Turbine Platforms to Drive Growth
Wind energy will remain at the centre of Suzlon’s expansion plans.
The company is banking on its next-generation BlueSky platform, which includes:
- S175 (5 MW) wind turbine
- S163 (6.3 MW) wind turbine
These advanced turbine platforms are expected to support both domestic and international growth while improving efficiency and energy output.
Suzlon is also targeting export opportunities and aims to secure 3 GW of international order intake by FY31.
Entry into Battery Energy Storage Segment
Recognising the growing importance of energy storage in renewable energy deployment, Suzlon has announced plans to enter the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) segment.
The company intends to establish a dedicated BESS manufacturing facility by 2027.
The proposed storage solutions will be designed to:
- Improve grid stability
- Enable round-the-clock renewable power
- Enhance energy reliability
- Support India’s growing clean energy requirements
Officials said intelligent battery storage will play a crucial role in making renewable energy more dispatchable and grid-ready.
RE DevCo to Accelerate Project Development
Suzlon has identified Renewable Energy Development Company (RE DevCo) as a key growth driver under its new strategy.
The platform will focus on transforming renewable energy opportunities into execution-ready projects through services such as:
- Land acquisition
- Grid connectivity planning
- Regulatory approvals
- Project development
- End-to-end execution support
The company believes the model will help customers accelerate renewable energy deployment while addressing challenges related to project readiness and speed-to-market.
Building India’s First Full-Stack Renewable Energy Company
With its expanded business model, Suzlon aims to become India’s first integrated renewable energy company spanning generation technologies, project development, execution, storage, and lifecycle management.
