UPNEDA

In a significant move towards advancing clean energy in Uttar Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has entered into a strategic partnership with KLK Ventures, a leading provider of solar-powered technologies. The collaboration was formally announced at the Uttar Pradesh Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2025, held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow. The event was organised by the Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development, with active support from the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

The partnership aims to enhance renewable energy infrastructure and promote energy access, particularly in rural and underserved areas of the state. With a shared vision of sustainability, UPNEDA and KLK Ventures plan to deploy advanced solar energy solutions, develop supporting infrastructure, and implement community-centric training and service delivery programs.

During the summit’s inaugural session, Dr. Arindam Roy, a senior government official, underscored the importance of collaborative innovation and localised clean energy adoption to achieve energy self-reliance in Uttar Pradesh. He emphasised the role of modern technology and inclusive development in meeting the state’s growing energy demands sustainably.

KLK Ventures, under the leadership of CEO Akshat Jain, has already demonstrated a substantial footprint in the state by installing over 50,000 solar-powered street lights, mini-grids, and energy storage systems. “We are proud to partner with UPNEDA and the Government of Uttar Pradesh in advancing clean energy access across the state,” said Jain. “Our goal is not just to provide solar solutions, but to empower rural communities with reliable, sustainable energy systems. Through this collaboration, we’re investing in the future of Uttar Pradesh, where innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability go hand in hand.”

The partnership includes initiatives to introduce skill development programs, sustainable service delivery frameworks, and ongoing maintenance support, ensuring long-term viability and local ownership of clean energy projects. These initiatives are closely aligned with key government programs such as the PM-KUSUM scheme, which promotes solar-powered agricultural pumps, and rooftop solar initiatives targeting domestic and institutional installations.

A major focus of the joint roadmap is the complete solarisation of agricultural irrigation systems by 2027, which would significantly reduce dependence on conventional energy sources and enhance energy efficiency in the agricultural sector. Additionally, the collaboration supports Uttar Pradesh’s broader climate goals, including the integration of hydrogen fuel, hydropower, and other decentralised renewable energy technologies to move towards a carbon-neutral future.

This public-private alliance marks a milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s renewable energy journey and is expected to serve as a replicable model for other Indian states seeking sustainable and inclusive energy development.
