The PM-KUSUM scheme has now crossed the 10,203 MW solar-capacity milestone as of November 30, 2025, reflecting a major expansion in India’s push toward decentralised renewable energy generation. Alongside this capacity addition, the government has released ₹7,106 crore to state implementing agencies to support ongoing and new installations.
Under PM-KUSUM, which covers grid-connected solar plants, standalone solar agricultural pumps, and solarisation of existing grid-connected pumps, more than 20.4 lakh farmers and farming collectives have benefitted from solarisation efforts nationwide. The scheme remains demand-driven, allowing individual farmers, farmer-producer organisations, water-user associations and similar entities to participate.

With these achievements, PM-KUSUM continues to play a pivotal role in promoting solar energy adoption among the agricultural community, reducing dependence on diesel or conventional grid supply, enabling clean irrigation solutions and supporting overall rural energy security. The central funding release aims to fast-track project execution across all components before the scheme’s scheduled end date in March 2026.
