The state government of Rajasthan has formally unveiled the Pugal Solar Park in Bikaner district, a project featuring 2,450 MW of solar generation capacity paired with a 5,000 MWh (5 GWh) battery energy storage system (BESS). The park, developed by Rajasthan Solar Park Development Company Ltd (a subsidiary of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd), is spread over approximately 4,353 hectares of government-leased land.
Designed to provide firm renewable power even during non-sunny periods, the project includes ready-to-use civil and electrical infrastructure under a plug-and-play model to facilitate rapid rollout by investors. It is expected to attract investment exceeding ₹18,000 crore and generate over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs. The advanced battery system plays a key role in stabilising grid supply, enabling the delivery of solar energy during evening and peak demand hours.

Officials say the project embeds high-voltage transmission corridors to ensure efficient power evacuation and is aligned with the state’s broader aim of achieving energy self-reliance. With this launch, Rajasthan continues to position itself at the forefront of India’s clean-energy push and large-scale integration of renewables with storage.
