Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, on Saturday inaugurated a new petroleum oil depot by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, as part of a broader infrastructure initiative totalling over ₹14,260 crore. The upgrades span multiple sectors, including energy, roads, industry, and healthcare.

The HPCL facility, valued at approximately ₹460 crore, features a storage capacity of 54,000 kilolitres, including a dedicated 10,000 kilolitre ethanol zone, underscoring support for India’s ethanol-blending ambitions.

The wider development envelope includes the inauguration and foundation-stone laying of projects such as a four-lane Greenfield highway, natural-gas pipeline system strengthening, and expansion of medical education and housing infrastructure across the state. The Prime Minister’s remarks emphasised Chhattisgarh’s transformation over 25 years and the government’s aim to deliver enhanced connectivity, clean-energy access, and inclusive growth.

The milestone marks the state’s silver jubilee of formation and reflects intensified efforts to integrate energy, transport and industrial infrastructure for regional development.
