The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Atul Gupta, currently serving as Director (Commercial) at Engineers India Ltd (EIL), for the position of Chairman and Managing Director. His appointment will take effect once it receives approval from the Cabinet’s Appointments Committee.

Gupta, a mechanical engineer from GBPUAT Pantnagar, joined EIL in 1992 as a management trainee and has since built more than three decades of experience within the organisation. Over the years, he has handled several high-value assignments across the refinery, petrochemical, pipeline, and fertiliser sectors, contributing to both domestic and international projects. His extensive background in project management, commercial operations, and strategic planning has positioned him as a key leader within the company.

He is set to succeed Vartika Shukla, taking charge at a time when EIL is expanding its role in engineering consultancy and strengthening its contributions to India’s energy and infrastructure development. His leadership is expected to support the company’s ongoing efforts in technology-driven project execution and diversification into emerging sectors.
