On Wednesday, Inox Solar said that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LONGi (HK) Trading, a Chinese solar technology giant, for the supply of 5 GW of advanced solar modules over three years.

The agreement aims to facilitate the near-simultaneous transfer of next-generation innovations from China to India, helping reduce technology adoption lag and enhance domestic manufacturing quality. Inox says the collaboration will enable faster access to advanced modules and cell technologies.

The current manufacturing facility of Inox Solar in Bavla, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has commenced production with an initial capacity of 1.2 GW and is slated to scale up to 3 GW in the coming weeks as part of Phase II expansion. Additionally, the company is setting up an integrated 5 GW cell + module facility in Dhenkanal, Odisha

Inox Clean Energy’s Executive Director, Devansh Jain, emphasised the company’s commitment to making India a self-reliant solar manufacturing hub, stating that global collaborations are essential to bring in benchmark quality and technology. Kailash Tarachandani, Group CEO (Renewables, INOXGFL Group), added that aligning with LONGi will help ensure Indian consumers access advanced, competitive solar solutions. 

From LONGi’s side, Frank Zhao, President of LONGi APAC, noted the firm’s intention to support clean energy adoption across India through technical cooperation and knowledge sharing
