State-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and Reliance BP Mobility (RBML) have announced a strategic collaboration in city gas distribution (CGD) and compressed natural gas (CNG) sales.
RBML is an equal joint venture between BP Plc, UK, and Reliance Industries, focused on the mobility segment.
Rahul Tandon, BPCL’s business head for gas, said the partnership ensures that “the end customer receives our molecule,” supporting the broader vision of a gas-based economy. He added that the collaboration will accelerate progress towards this national objective.
In a joint statement, the companies highlighted that the alliance will expand access to cleaner and more affordable fuel across India. “It aligns with the government of India’s goal to raise the share of natural gas in the energy mix from 6% today to 15% by 2030, reflecting the joint commitment of both organizations to sustainable mobility and cleaner energy adoption,” the statement said.
RBML CEO Akshay Wadhwa noted that the high footfall at RBML outlets will drive increased CNG sales, contributing to India’s gas-based economy and promoting the transition to cleaner energy solutions.
