The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is preparing to launch a ₹6 billion pilot project aimed at assessing the feasibility of green hydrogen supply for commercial vehicles and setting standards for fueling and storage systems. The project will be rolled out across 10 selected highway stretches.
Before its nationwide implementation, the initiative will undergo rigorous trials to evaluate technical, supply-chain, geographical, and logistical challenges. The pilot is also expected to feature incentives for steel and automobile manufacturers to design prototypes of hydrogen vehicles and storage systems.
