IREDA

The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA), a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), has achieved a major milestone by disbursing over ₹1.63 lakh crore in cumulative loans since its inception.

Speaking at an event in Mumbai, IREDA Chairman & Managing Director Pradip Kumar Das emphasised the agency’s comprehensive support for renewable energy technologies, spanning solar, wind, biomass, hydro, e-mobility, green hydrogen, and more. He noted that IREDA’s strategic capital-raising efforts include partnerships with multilateral agencies, issuance of green bonds, and implementation of refinancing frameworks to sustain the flow of scalable green infrastructure investments.

Das further highlighted IREDA’s growing focus on fostering a just and equitable energy transition. This includes investments in capacity building, institutional risk mitigation, and mechanisms aligned with India’s ambitions to emerge as a global leader in renewable energy manufacturing, green hydrogen exports, and climate innovation.

Outlining the future roadmap, Das revealed IREDA’s plan to evolve from a financier into a strategic enabler, knowledge partner, and catalyst for sustainable transformation. The agency has expanded operations with a new office in Gandhinagar and aims to finance international renewable energy opportunities. He also stressed that IREDA has strengthened its credit appraisal systems and recovery mechanisms, resulting in a steady decline in NPAs over the past fiscal year.
