Rooftop Solar Panel

The Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday approved a subsidy of ₹30,000 for the installation of 3 kW rooftop solar panels in a major push toward sustainable energy and environmental protection. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced that this move supplements the existing ₹78,000 subsidy provided by the central government under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, making rooftop solar adoption significantly more affordable for Delhi residents.

Sirsa highlighted that the cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has enhanced the per-kilowatt subsidy by ₹10,000, taking the total state-level contribution to ₹30,000. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to reduce pollution and promote green energy solutions across the capital.

Additionally, the Delhi government approved the procurement of litter machines, anti-smog guns, mechanical road sweepers, and water sprinklers to further bolster its pollution control infrastructure. These tools will be deployed in high-emission zones to reduce particulate matter and improve air quality.

To make solar energy adoption even more accessible, the government plans to collaborate with banks to provide easy financing options. “People will not have to spend any money from their own pockets. They can finance installation charges through loans and still save up to ₹4,200 per month,” Sirsa added, emphasising the financial viability of switching to solar power.

This comprehensive package underscores Delhi’s commitment to climate action, clean energy, and citizen-friendly reforms.
