Solar Plant

In a major step towards sustainable development and energy security in tribal areas, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu laid the foundation stone of a 1 MW solar power plant in Dhanwas, located in the remote Pangi Valley. With an estimated cost of ₹10.50 crore, the project is slated for completion before November 2025, according to an official release.

The solar power project aims to provide uninterrupted electricity to all 19 panchayats of the valley, including during harsh winter months when power disruptions are common. The Chief Minister directed officials to accelerate the construction process to ensure timely delivery of this critical infrastructure.

The plant will feature 2,400 solar panels and include a 500-kilowatt battery storage system to support night-time energy needs, effectively ending load shedding and strengthening the local power distribution network. Spread across 2.2 hectares, this clean energy facility marks a pivotal development in the region’s electrification journey.
